Biography

The Biography of osahene

November 1, 2017

CHICAGO IL

My name is Kojo Appiah Kubi popularly known as Osahene I was born in 1969 by these amazing parents Opanin Yaw Kodom (Farmer) and Sarah Yaa Fosuah alias Eno Yaa Duku (Treader) I was the last born of eight children (Kaakyire) I was raised up at Tanfiano No. 1 (a farming community (at Nkoranza - Kintampo road) in the Brong Ahafo Region. I started my elementary school at Tanfiano Local Authority Primary School and then to Anglican Continuation Middle School at Nkoranza, later to Wenchi B/A. Due to early death of my father, I couldn’t afford to continue my education to secondary school at that time but by God’s grace and determination I was able to write and got my O level certificate while I was also doing my apprenticeship as an Artist. It was my dream when I was growing up that i will be an Artist. I started singing since in my childhood because my Father was a great singer and actually it wasn’t a surprise for me to sing just like him. (Like father like son)
He once told me that i will be a great singer in the near future but i didn’t know what he meant at that time until now. (Papa wo boɔ nie)
I remember we used to go to the bush and cut pawpaw tree and cut the two ends, fold it with a plastic and use it as a drums. Or sometimes we use old rubber buckets as a drums and use empty milk containers as a microphones and all kind of toys as musical instruments. We use to perform at nights bandstand in the village streets when the moon is bright (hyen dwa a) because there was no electricity at that time. I was doing all this because it was my passion. Even tho everyone was praising me but my mother took it in different line. My Mom tried to protect me from harm and danger when i was a teenager and I remember in so many occasions she didn’t allowed me to go to places to perform. I wasn’t happy with that kind of restrictions, sometimes i sneak out just to go to places to perform (frɛ frɛ ko bɔ) I had a car accident during one my trip for performance, thank God I didn’t got hurt but I learnt my lesson to listen to my Mom and later stopped doing things that will hurt her feelings. I didn’t know she was protecting me until now. She’s my everything and I love her
When I was at Wenchi attending school, a friend of mine used to invite me to SDA church during 13th sabbaths. I got more interested in the church especially their songs but i didn’t joined them to became a member even tho i use to go to their singing practices and all that. Later after some years I converted and became a member in the church and that’s where my singing carrier began to developed. I first formed a singing group doing dawn broadcast, evangelism and all kind of church activities. Later joined a choir at Sunyani New town SDA, also joined Tanokrom Philharmonic Choral group at Sunyani. (One of the best group)
While I was an apprentice at Kwarteng Art Services (KWARTS) we used to do costumes and display boards for many Bands and i was encountered with many bandsmen and musicians like Kofi Sammy, J A Adofo, AAA, Amakye Dede, Paa Bobo etc.. Prof Kofi Abraham became my mentor and i felt love in his gospel music so much that i learnt every gospel hit, songs from Advent Heralds, Osei Boateng, Ahensan Gospel Band, Yaw Sarpong, Jewel Ackah, Paapa Yankson etc....  I fellowed many musicians like Paa Bobo, AAA, J A Adofo etc but i didn’t joined none of them even tho they wanted me to but that wasn’t my dream.  Later I became Master Artist and got my own art studio at Sunyani with the name Osahene Publicity. Osahene became very popular name in Sunyani during 1990’s
In 1997 I was privileged to got a visa to United States where I furthered my education and carrier and that’s where I have been up till now. I am blessed with three children ERIC, ANNA & AVA.
Things that makes me happy is Music and Art. I love God and love people. I love simple life, and I try to be simple as well. I am not rich but I am more contempt and appreciate what God has given me. I am more focus and friendly at the same time. I put smile to many faces yet I feel lonely and quite inside me sometimes but people don’t see that part because I always smile and make people laugh. I have determined to love Christ and follow his footsteps. I am not scared to try and fail because I am adventurous and  creativity.  I knew one day i will come up with my own songs when it’s God’s time. I went to Ghana in 2014 and did my first recording at Dich’s studio. We did the project just as an entertainment and I named the album “GYE NYAME”
It was just experiment and since then i have developed more interest in songwriting, compositions and singing than ever. I am so proud to work
with Dich (my son Kofi Kodom) I saw Kofi as very talented, creative and also great potential so we linked up to work hand in hand. He has been such
a blessing and he is the powerhouse of this new developmental. By the grace of God we were able to achieve our goal to release this new debut album entitled NYAME YE (God IS GOOD) Which I consider it as my testimony.
The journey wasn’t easy but with God, all things are possible. All my praises belongs to HIM. I really thanks God for what He has done, now doing and what He will do. My future belongs to Him and I know He will surely accomplish what He has began
